Passing the Torch: The 2022 Tractor Swap
The Associated Industries of SC Foundation (AISCF) and the SC Be Pro Be Proud initiative benefited greatly from the financial and service support from Carolina International Trucks and Idealease providing the first custom-made International tractor in 2020. That sponsorship and contribution lasted almost two years! Be Pro Be Proud SC and the AISCF extends its appreciation to Shealy's Truck Centers, led by Bruce, Becky, and Carey Shealy, who are generously donating use of a new custom-made Volvo tractor – including maintenance – for the next 12 months of operation. Thanks to their support, BPBP SC's impact is able to continue uninterrupted into the next school year. The Be Pro tractor 2.0 is a true beauty, sure to catch the eye and interest of many students! The CAT GenSet (sponsored by Blanchard Machinery, Co.) was recently serviced and the team from Southeastern swapped it out from the International tractor to the new Volvo tractor.
SC leaders unveil 53-foot, custom built trailer to help promote careers in the skilled trades
Governor Henry McMaster and other state leaders unveiled the “Be Pro, Be Proud SC” project, which includes a new 53-foot, double expandable 18-wheeler. The mobile workshop includes eight simulators, like truck driving, forklifts, and carpentry and welding machines, and it aims to grab high school students’ interest and help them realize a career in the trades is just as respectable as attending a four-year college.
SOUTH CAROLINA ADDRESSING SKILLS GAP
As the 3rd state to welcome the Be Pro Be Proud movement, South Carolina students will begin learning about skilled trades career opportunities this school year.
